The community in Holmbury St Mary
There's a growing group of people in the village who are looking out for their neighbours and a number of services have been set up by volunteers to help people who are self-isolating. These include:
Kingfisher Farm Shop are making a couple of doorstep deliveries every week to folk in Holmbury, in response to orders placed and paid for over the phone (01306 730703).
The weekly prescriptions drop-off service to a central location in the village has been re-established - prescriptions in the box by 12.00 noon on Wednesdays will be brought back to the box by 3.00pm on Fridays.
Cranleigh Fish are making doorstep deliveries in the village on Fridays, in response to orders placed over the phone: 01483 272779
Various people have offered practical help and help with animals, including feeding and dog-walking.
Please let David know (01306 731142) if there is anyone you know who you think feels lonely and would value some contact by phone. Computers, smartphones and TVs are all company of a kind, but nothing can quite replace genuine human contact. Several people have offered to phone others if they'd like some safe social contact.
Dorking Area Food Bank
St Mary's remains as committed as ever to supporting our local Food Bank. Although we can't make donations of food items at the moment, we can continue to donate money so that DAF can buy food under priority buying arrangements they have set up with wholesalers and supermarkets.
A prayer for the anxious and isolated
God of compassion,
be close to those who are ill, afraid or in isolation.
In their loneliness, be their consolation; in their anxiety, be their hope;
in their darkness, be their light; through him who suffered alone on the cross,
but reigns with you in glory, Jesus Christ our Lord.
A prayer for hospital staff and medical researchers
Gracious God, give skill, sympathy and resilience to all who are working for our health services, and those caring for the sick at home or in care homes.
Give wisdom and inspiration to those searching for a cure.
Strengthen them with your Spirit, that through their work many will be restored to health; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
